First Thought / Best Thought Ensemble // Madi Powers

Join us on Sunday, March 22nd, as First Thought / Best Thought Ensemble makes its debut for an afternoon of contemporary music. They will perform works by John Cage (Five) and Wandelweiser composer Eva-Maria Houben (A Place for Everyone).

First Thought / Best Thought Ensemble is a rotating ensemble of St. Louis musicians specializing in open-ended contemporary works that emphasize listening, presence, and shared musical time. The group focuses on experimental scores that invite interpretation rather than fixed realization, favoring attentiveness over overt virtuosity.

Joining the program is horn player Madi Powers, performing Olivier Messiean's seminal work for solo horn, Appel Interstellaire.
